How To Replace Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Rear Cameras

Follow these easy step-by-step instructions to replace the defective rear cameras of your Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus:

Step 1 Collect Mobile Repairing Tools

Gather all these necessary mobile repairing tools to replace the defective rear cameras of your Galaxy S21 Plus:

• A Hot air gun or Hair Dryer 
• A suction cup
• A SIM ejecting tool
• A plastic opening pick or tool
• A Spudger or prying tool 
• A set of screwdrivers
• A pair of tweezers
• New adhesive glue
• Isopropyl Alcohol 
• Clean cotton cloth 

Step 2 Power Off Your Galaxy S21+

Follow these steps to turn off your Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus:

• Press the side button and volume down button together for a few seconds.
• A power-off menu will appear.
• Select the power off option to turn off your Galaxy S21 Plus.

Step 3 Eject The SIM Card Tray

• Take the SIM eject tool or pin and insert its tip into the small hole on the SIM card tray. Apply a little pressure.
• The SIM tray will pop out partially.
• Pull out the SIM tray from the phone with the help of your fingers.
• Keep the SIM card tray aside.

Step 4 Heat The Phone Edges 

• Adjust medium heat settings on the hot air gun or hairdryer. You can also use a hot plate to heat your Galaxy S21 Plus for 90 seconds.
• Heat the phone edges for 5 to 7 minutes. Keep the heat gun at least 5 to 10 cm away from the phone. 

Important Tip

• All the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus corners are sealed with strong adhesive glue. Heat will melt the adhesive glue and you can cut it easily. 
• Do not overheat the phone. Too much heat can damage the internal parts of your phone.

Step 5 Apply The Suction Cup 

• Fix a suction cup near the bottom edge of your S21 Plus’s back cover.
• Firmly hold the handle of the suction cup.
• Pull the suction cup handle until a gap forms between the back cover and the phone frame.

Step 6 Insert The Opening Pick 

• Insert a plastic opening pick or tool into the gap between the back cover and the phone frame.

Step 7 Cut Through The Bottom Adhesive 

• 
• Slide the opening pick from the lower right to the lower left corner of your S21 Plus. Repeat this movement twice to cut through the bottom adhesive.

Step 8 Remove The Left Adhesive 

• Move the plastic pick from the lower left to the upper left corner twice or thrice. It will remove the left-side adhesive.

Important Tip 

• Always remember the rear camera assembly is located at the top left corner of the Samsung S21 Plus. There is a little more adhesive around the camera shell. 
• If the adhesive is difficult to cut around the top left corner, reheat the top left corner again rather than applying too much force and damaging the rear cameras.

Step 9 Cut The Upper Adhesive 

• Keep moving the opening pick from the upper left to the upper right corner of your S21 Plus to cut the upper edge adhesive.

Step 10 Slice The Right Adhesive 

• 
• Now, slide the opening pick from the upper right to the lower right corner to slice the right-side adhesive.

Step 11 Remove The Back Cover

• Use your fingers to detach the back cover from the phone frame.
• Keep the back cover aside.

Step 12 Disconnect The Charging Coil 

• Pry up the charging coil press connector with a spudger to disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 13 Disconnect The NFC Antenna

• Unclip the NFC Antenna press connector with a spudger to disconnect the antenna from the motherboard.

Step 14 Unscrew The NFC Antenna And Charging Coil Assembly 

• There are five 3.9mm long screws securing the NFC Antenna and Charging Coil Assembly to the phone.
• Unfasten these five screws with a screwdriver.
• Keep them in a safe place.

Step 15 Remove The NFC Antenna And Charging Coil Assembly 

• Remove the adhesive around the edges of the charging coil with a plastic opening pick.
• Pry up the NFC Antenna and Charging Coil Assembly with a prying tool or spudger.
• Use a pair of tweezers or your fingers to hold the NFC Antenna and Charging Coil Assembly.
• Remove the NFC Antenna and Charging Coil Assembly.

Step 16 Disconnect The Battery 

• Pry up the battery’s press connector with a prying tool to disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 17 Disconnect The Display Flex Cable 

• Pry up the display cable’s press connector with a spudger to disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 18 Disconnect The Flex Cables

• Use a spudger to unclip the press connectors of the main flex cables to disconnect them from the motherboard. 

Step 19 Unscrew The Earpiece Speaker Assembly 

• There are seven 3.9mm long screws securing the earpiece speaker to the phone.
• Unscrew these seven screws with the help of a screwdriver.
• Keep the screws in a safe place, as you may need them during reassembly of your S21 Plus.

Step 20 Disconnect The Earpiece Speaker 

• Unclip the press connector of the earpiece speaker with a spudger to disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 21 Remove The Earpiece Speaker Assembly 

• Use a spudger to lift the earpiece speaker from its recess.
• Hold the earpiece speaker with your fingers or tweezers.
• Remove the earpiece speaker from its recess.
• Keep it aside in a safe place.

Step 22 Disconnect Front Facing Camera 

• Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the press connector of the front-facing camera of your S21 Plus.

Step 23 Disconnect The Power Button Flex Cable

• Unclip the press connector of the power button’s flex cable with the help of a spudger.

Step 24 Disconnect The Antenna Flex Cable 

• Disconnect the press connector of the antenna flex cable with the help of a spudger.
• Use the spudger to bend the flex cables of the Antenna and Power button to the side. In this way, you can remove the motherboard without damaging the flex cables of the Antenna and Power button. 

Step 25 Pry Up The Motherboard Assembly 

• Insert a spudger under the top edge of the motherboard.
• Lift the motherboard from its recess with the help of the spudger.

Step 26 Remove The Motherboard Assembly 

• Use your fingers to remove the motherboard assembly from its recess.

Step 27 Disconnect The Rear Cameras 

• Unclip the press connector of the wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras of your Galaxy S21 Plus to disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 28 Detach The Rear Cameras From The Motherboard 

• Hold the rear camera assembly with your fingers or tweezers.
• Remove the rear camera assembly from the motherboard board.

Step 29 Install The New Rear Cameras Assembly 

• Install and connect the rear camera assembly to the motherboard.

Step 30 Reassemble Your Galaxy S21 Plus 

• To reassemble your S21 Plus, follow all the above steps in reverse order.
• Reconnect all the components and screw up all the screws.
• Take a cotton bud.
• Dip it in concentrated isopropyl alcohol.
• Rub this cotton bud around the edges of the phone frame and rear cover 
• Wait for a few seconds. Isopropyl Alcohol will melt the old adhesive.
• Use a clean cotton cloth to wipe away the old adhesive around the edges of the phone frame and back cover.
• Apply new adhesive glue around the edges of your phone’s back cover.
• Attach the back cover to the phone’s frame.
